Why This Facility is a Game-Changer
The facility is established with a massive investment of ₹12,800 crore under the state’s “Mega Project” policy. It aims to solve modern security challenges through high-volume, high-tech manufacturing.
1. Border Patrolling Robots Chief Minister Fadnavis highlighted a critical motive: replacing human risk with technology. The facility will produce 1,000 robots annually capable of operating in extreme conditions, specifically designed to patrol the LAC and LOC at temperatures as low as -40°C.
2. Massive UAV Production With an annual capacity of 10,000 drones, the plant will manufacture tactical units and Medium Altitude Long Endurance (MALE) drones with ranges up to 1,000 km. This includes indigenous “kamikaze” (loitering munition) capabilities.
3. Economic & Tech Hub The project is set to create over 6,800 jobs and features India’s first Industry 5.0 ecosystem, integrating AI and human-centered design on a 223-acre site.
Timeline for the Future
- Operational Readiness: The facility is expected to be fully functional by March 2027.
- First Prototype: Solar Group plans to roll out its first indigenous robotics prototype within the next year.
